Emmy® award-nominated host, adventurer, and travel expert Darley Newman is known for getting viewers out of their comfort zone on active experiences globally. She is the host, creator, and producer of the PBS television shows Travels with Darley and Equitrekking, which have been featured on international networks in more than 85 nations. She takes viewers to remote and stunning locations to reveal fascinating global cultures, adventure, cuisine, and hidden gems. Having led production teams in more than 25 nations and 26 states, Darley has produced filmmaking adventures that include traversing one of the world’s largest salt pans in Africa, free diving in South Korea, and exploring the “Red Zone” of World War I by mountain bike throughout northeastern France. Her ability to make on-camera guests feel at ease has allowed her to interview people of varying cultures and walks of life, including HRH Princess Alia in Jordan, Olympian Jonny Moseley, and inspiring entrepreneurs in the United States.

Explore the culture of Qatar in the Middle East, ranging from football to falconry. 22: Colorado Ranches & Forests
Explore dude ranches, national forests, Rocky Mountain National Park and great food and culture on a road trip through Grand County, Colorado on "Travels with Darley." 24: Alabama's Civil Rights Trail Part I
Meet women who lived through the Civil Rights Movement and sharie their firsthand stories with Darley Newman in Montgomery, Birmingham and Selma on a journey along Alabama's Civil Rights Trail. Follow in the footsteps of legends and activists such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks at museums, churches, national parks, and other landmarks. This episode takes viewers to Kelly Ingram Park and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the 16th Street Baptist Church, Theatre District and Railroad Park in Birmingham. At Selma’s Tabernacle Baptist Church, Dr. Verdell Lett Dawson shares the history of this site which held the first mass meeting of the Voting Rights Movement. Darley also meets with entrepreneur Jackie Smith at the once segregated local coffee shop. Darley also introduces viewers to Alabama food and drinks at Hero Doughnuts, Back Forty Brewing Company, Post Office Pies and Lannie’s BBQ in Selma.
25: Alabama's Civil Rights Trail Part II
Join Darley Newman and local experts who lived through the 20th century Civil Rights Movement in Montgomery, Birmingham, and Selma. Follow in the footsteps of legends and activists such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks at museums, churches, national parks, and other landmarks. This episode takes viewers to meet JoAnne Bland, who was arrested 13 times before the age of 12 for her participation in the Civil Rights Movement. Wanda Battle meets Darley in Montgomery at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, where Dr. Martin Luther King served as pastor from 1954 to 1960. At Rosa Parks former Montgomery home, Darley speaks with Doris Crenshaw, a lifelong activist who at the age of 12 was a protégée of Rosa Parks. Michelle Browder leads Darley through Montgomery to sites of significance, including the Southern Poverty Law Center. Finally, Darley heads to Montgomery’s Westside to meet Kevin King of The King’s Canvas, which creates public art to make change.
26: Charleston & The Liberty Trail
Visit Revolutionary War sites in Charleston, Moncks Corner, McClellanville and the Francis Marion National Forest in South Carolina, where military leaders such as Francis Marion, also known as the Swamp Fox, fought for independence. Darley joins experts at parks, battlefields, museums, restaurants and churches to share history in an interactive way in this episode of “Travels with Darley” on PBS and Ovation TV’s Journy.
