Splendor and Misery of the Last Tsarinas

From Catherine the Great up until the last Russian Empress all the ‘Russian’ Tsarinas were, in fact, German. This was not because the path of true love led them straight to Petrograd, but the result of European power play at the highest level. These are the dramatic stories of these women, torn between strategic marriages, the longing for true love and the shackles of European power politics.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Informative but Misleading According to the description, it seems that the viewer/learner will gain insight on the last few Tsarinas. However, I feel the focus is mainly on Alexandra Feodorovna or Princess Princess Charlotte of Prussia. It is about halfway through the 51-minute lecture that we start to hear and see other Tsarinas. They are however briefly mentioned and then we return to Alexandra Feodorovna. I didn't have an issue with the content - but I was expecting a more generalized focus over various Tsarinas with equal screentime. The description also mentions Catherine the Great who I thought would get more than 1-2 sentences, but alas she did not. Great lecture for Alexandra Feodorovna - not so great for last tsarina.
