If there is any truth to the idea that "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players," we should probably learn to act a bit better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Character Analysis for Aactors Review The first lesson gave me a wonderful taste of the hard work an actor has to do in order to achieve acting the part correctly. As a movie goer I have learned a little something on what to look for other than enjoying the movie. This will be a course that every actor and his/her audience will get their monies worth. I am looking forward to lesson two with great anticipation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This video provides an introduction to acting which I found useful. The play she chose was A Street Car Named Desire, which I have never seen. But I see the utility of her approach in evaluating acting in other plays of which I am familiar. Though it may be naive to point out that Hamlet has both internal and external blocks to attaining his objectives, I find the obvious oftentimes a useful starting place, a bedrock to return to, a place to organize your thoughts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ready For the Full Course It is sad to have to stop listening after lecture 1. This is a course I have been waiting for Great Courses to create. The subject matter is very complete and clearly explained. I will look eagerly every month for this course. Do you know when the full course will be in yet?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Make this a class please! Both the content of this intro and the instructor are excellent. The professor shared important information in an engaging way useful for aspiring actors, writers, & a general audience alike. Additionally, she made the very important point that the "radical empathy" technique utilized by actors represents a useful "life skill" as well. Would love to see this pilot developed into a full course!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique and Much Anticipated Content The pilot lecture content and presenter held my attention such that I believed only five minutes elapsed and found myself shouting aloud Encore! Encore! The self exercise of imagining a favorite actor coupled with the inward/outward Stanislavski method brings me to my Michael Corleone request; now I want you to make this lecture available in no less than 24 episodes...or I will make you an offer you can’t refuse...my undying loyalty to GreatCourses Plus. I believe this course would allow me to better immerse myself and critique films through character analysis. Please make it happen!
