Great basic techniques and clear demonstrations
I appreciated Kateri's friendly, encouraging style of teaching accompanied by her clear explanations and demonstrations of techniques. She provided enough theory to help students understand the reasons for choosing certain colors, brushes, and papers but not so much as to overwhelm or discourage watercolor neophytes. I knew that watercolor is applied in layers light to dark but was finding this difficult to implement in my practicing prior to taking this class. Learning Kateri's methods of controlling the amount of water and paint on her brush, using water-glazing to manage the flow of paint on paper, and employing patience during the steps of the watercolor process have already helped my painting. I also appreciated the interactions between Kateri and her beginning students; recognizing in the students' paintings many of my own mistakes and then hearing her recommendations for small changes in techniques that would improve the outcome were very helpful for me.

Explored new technique.
I added this video on watercolor to help me get more practice in techniques than I had, and to learn new techniques. I really enjoyed her lectures and calmness in how she related to the subject. I hadn't painted in years and wanted to resume my passion for art again now that I have time to give to it.

Great introduction to watercolor
This is an excellent course for someone totally new at watercolor painting. Kateri's teaching skills are superb. I particularly enjoyed seeing the "guest" students describe their experience with the projects, and how Kateri helped them correct their mistakes, and provide positive feedback. This course is the next best thing to a live in-person class!

A Great Way to Get Started in Watercolors
I learned so much about the basics of watercolor, things that are important for a beginner to learn and practice. I very highly recommend it to anyone starting watercolor painting, or anyone who just wants to improve their technique.

I'm amazed!
Kateri is an excellent instructor! She shares her skills and talent in aneasy-going, understandable way. I've enjoyed drawing all my life (I'm 73) and was actually an Art major in college for a while, but never got into watercolor at all. What's amazing is that I'm only on lesson 11 and I've actually painted some pretty good landscapes and seascapes! It is so enjoyable, too!

What a great course!
I'm no dummy, but a lot of instructional videos lose me pretty quickly. Not this course! Everything is well-explained and thorough, nothing is glossed over, and the pace is perfect. I'm a graphite artist who's been trying to break into watercolors but have been just plain afraid and also didn't have any idea how to start. This course has me on the path now. I"m very, very pleased with this course and this instructor.

Painting with Water colors
Very clear down to earth way teaching and very accurate information on how paint with water colors. And her suggestions on what materials to get are spot on! Like having a new lease on life! Very exciting! I put down novice because that is the closest description at this point , but I have drawn and painted from time to time over the years. But I wouldn’t consider myself an intermediate artist. She teaches techniques painting in Watercolor that I didn’t know. Very helpful. Michael M.

Loved this class!
I loved Kateri's welcoming teaching style as she encouraged and taught various watercolor techniques and mixing of colors. I downloaded the Startup Library-Paint with Watercolors and it was an excellent reference. I have not perfected my skills, but feel encouraged to continue working on watercolor painting. For watercolorist Kateri Ewing, painting is all about capturing the awe she feels for the natural world. In preparation for painting, Kateri regularly walks and photographs the woods, meadows and waterways in two of her favorite places near her home in western New York state: Wyoming County and Knox Farm State Park.
