Rated 4 out of 5 by from Valuable Skills Good course. As another reviewer mentioned, this is more valuable for the younger, less experienced crowd. We should all, even those of us approaching retirement, improve our people skills. Understanding how to communicate better is extremely valuable. What I found is that I was finding little details that I disagreed with (and wanted to discuss with them but they won’t talk to you unless you sign up for their course). I didn’t mind the “audience” / “live” nature of the lectures. That helps to teach you how clueless the general public is. This isn’t a knock on the audience filmed, they are a good variety of people who have already given attention to this subject. Wondrium is a fantastic value. I signed up for “People School” as I wanted to get into more depth and join a community interested in such subjects. I ended up getting a refund as “People School” doesn’t deliver much more than this course does. The online community is very inactive. “People School” is seriously overpriced, it’s really aimed at the very wealthy “CEO” class of people.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from a little bummed. I am not very happy about a guide book NOT being included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Course I found this course to be amazing. I am learning so much about how to understand people. I love that it is 'skills' focussed, meaning you can learn about a technique and then go and try it. At times the course can be focussed on helping to build confidence, but I am really getting the most out of understanding personality and reading people. Vanessa is so positive and I just love listening to every lecture and trying out the new skills.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Content, Way Too Long My review for "Master Your People Skills" is essentially the same as for Ms. Edwards' other course, "The Power of Body Language": The content is very useful, but the live seminar format more than doubles the amount of time that should be necessary to present the material. Spread over 31 lectures, this course rings in at nearly 23 hours. Frankly, the conceptual content could have been presented in 6-8 hours. My wish, as for her other course, would be for TGC to bring Ms. Edwards into the TGC studio and do these courses justice rather than simply re-packaging live seminars from outside sources.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A life-changing series! I have been a long-time listener at Wondrium / The Great Courses. I think this course is a wonderful addition to the collection for many reasons. Ms. Vanessa Edwards is an excellent teacher and communicator, and she models great people skills in the way she interacts with the small live audience. The inclusion of the audience adds a great learning dynamic, because there is a lot of research expressed and practical skills promoted, and the interplay with the audience helps me to much better digest and assimilate all that is being taught. I usually listen to history topics, but this topic seems more appropriate and beneficial to interact with a small learning group. I applaud her bravery and confidence to do this, and I'm inspired by her success in research and effective and winsome communication here. Bravo! I've learned so much from these courses, but this course is helping me to be a better person. I'm excited for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helpful Features I tried this a month ago and I found it very helpful not only in my personal life, but also in my business life. The presenter is very interesting and the way she teach was so unique compare to other CreativeLive content creator; she provide a wide range of scientific studies and easy to learn processes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I am not their target audience The title enticed me. While not so young and retired, I am still looking to improve, and who does not need better interpersonal skills. HOWEVER, IMHO this course is mostly aimed at the young folks starting out in their careers, or folks looking to grow their businesses. I found very little I could relate to. Perhaps it is not fair that I would write a review as I stopped watching after episode 4. I found myself bored, and asked myself why I was spending time watching this. Having had a subscription to Great Courses/Wondrium for a while now, it is a rare course that I do not complete. The presenter is just fine and seems very knowledgeable, although she may have slightly misquoted Maya Angelou. At least I could not find the quote anywhere exactly as recited here. I also found the audience interaction tedious and definitely one of the boring aspects of the course. Add to that their constant pushing of product, and I decided I had better things to do.
