Rated 3 out of 5 by from The presentation and details are high quality but this is such a short course that I don't feel it lives up to TGC quality. It has 36 lessons but you only get a little over 8 hours of instruction. I have been programming for 40 years but know little about Java. This course is a good introduction to what can be done in Java and how to use the editor when writing a program. But you aren't going to be able to do much programming after this short course. I've not taken any of the other TGC computer courses but let me compare this one to Learning Spanish. In the Learning Spanish course, you get 30 lessons. Each one has 30 minutes of instruction, 15 minutes of audio practice and a couple of pages of written exercises in the workbook. Learning Java has an average of 14 minutes of instruction per lesson and just a few notes in the guidebook. The instructor does a good job explaining what he is doing but this is only an INTRODUCTION to Java.
