Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best course I have taken. Worth every penny! Dr Ormsbee is so very knowledgeable. I am a detail person and find it valuable to understand the why behind things. You get that to a T with the course. It has totally changed the way I eat and think about nutrition, exercise and health in general. I thought I knew how to read food labels but this taught me so much more. The way to learn to eat more healthfully is to understand what your body needs right down to the cellular level. Believe me, you will think about food intake in a whole new, more beneficial way. Does he go deep into the material and the studies behind it? Absolutely. And since we are all different, there is no one answer that fits all. I appreciate that he talks about this. But that is one reason why this course is so great. Thank you, Dr Ormsbee, you have made a huge difference to my health and well-being . I appreciate you and the Great Courses for making this series available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd to none on how to achieve a healthy lifestyle I would recommend this course to anybody serious about achieving a life-long healthy lifestyle. I’ve tried a lot of things over the years with limited and short to medium term success. Michael Ormsbee explains why that happens and backs it up with studies while offering sensible tips on how to deal with and overcome the yo-yo effect. And that’s just a small piece of what this course offers. I’ve never found a more informative amount of information on how to become healthy and find the proper body composition thru diet and exercise anywhere and I’m in my mid 60’s having tried different things off and on for over half my life. This course puts it all together in a sensible providing the knowledge necessary to understand what works or doesn’t work and why it works or doesn’t work along with easy to implement tips to achieve a healthy lifestyle and stay with it, for life. Michael Ormsbee is an obvious expert in this field and it doesn’t take long to realize that. This is the best program I’ve ever found on body composition, diet and exercise, bar none. Easily the best money I’ve spent in my lifetime to educate and put me on track to living healthy. I’m thankful to Dr. Ormsbee and that I found his course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Science, not ideology, in this important topic I want to know what really works, and if possible, why. This instructor is clear about his goal: is there evidence? Yes, then do it. No, then you can do it, but don't get mad if it doesn't work. Emotion and numbers are both important, in getting yourself healthier! The instructor is both clear and non-didactic (most of the time). It's not just willpower. You need to know exactly what to do and how often and when. And when you know the why, which is research, you can help yourself to stay on track.
